“Just keep going. Stick with it!” - Denise Pickowicz’s Woman Of Science / STEM portrait session

The fact that my entire body cracks like a glow stick whenever I move and yet refuses to actually glow, is very disappointing.”

This saying sits in Denise’s clinic and inspires her everyday to help her patients recover and restore their quality of life.

Dr Denise Pickowicz is the founder and visionary behind Functional Chiropractic Care of New England. She’s warm, she’s fun and is deeply passionate about her work and helping others.

Denise was one of the 20 women who were a part of kapuPatel Photography’s Woman Of Science / STEM campaign.

“I just needed to something fun for me and to be able to give back to other women just brought me joy.” - Denise on why she wanted to be a part of this campaign. Her photo shoot was done in her clinic and outdoors in beautiful New Hampshire.

Denise’s advice to young women who are entering the field of Science and STEM today is, “If it’s in your heart, you can do it. It might be challenging, you might have your ups and downs, but if it’s your passion, don’t let that go. Definitely go for what your dreams are because as long as you are doing what you love doing, you will be successful.”

Did you know every year in Feb we celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science. It is an annual observance adopted by the United Nations to promote the full and equal access and participation of women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics fields.

And Women's History Month in March is a time to recognize the contributions of women in STEM fields, including Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

Are you a woman in Science / STEM (or perhaps know someone) juggling calendars with very little time for personal interests yearning to celebrate your accomplishments and unique traits beyond your professional identity?

If this has spoken to you and you feel inspired by Denise’s portrait session shoot, get in touch with us and tell us your thoughts and share your story with us.

“As a Scientist turned Photographer, I understand how it feels to have your unique traits and talents sidelined by your professional titles.

Women in science also have a creative side, a spiritual side, a quirky side and a sensual side and all these unique facets of our personality complete us. This bespoke transformational portrait experience is designed to celebrate all these facets that extend beyond your white coats, your labs, your coding and software where you can be authentically your truest self.

Maybe you are a dancer, a musician, a fencer, an artist, a handbag collector, a romance novel writer….come celebrate yourself.” - Kapu Patel
