"Be really mindful of your abilities and your skills and don't let others tell you about them." - Fiona Herr’s Woman Of Science / STEM session

Fiona is a woman who loves being out in her porch during thunderstorms to experience the majestic power of nature. She is also a party starter, loves grooving to “Dancing Queen” by ABBA, and when she’s not practicing mindfulness and yoga, she is constantly finding ways to challenge herself - whether it is marathon running, hiking, biking or scuba diving.

Fiona is a woman scientist and she wanted to be a part of kapuPatel Photography’s Woman Of Science / STEM campaign as she feels more empowered than ever, and wanted to let her daughters and all their friends know that moms can be kick ass scientists too!

Fiona says, “I’m an extremely strong supporter of encouraging more women to go into science. I’m aware that a lot of young girls are entering science but there’s still a glass ceiling and they are still not asserting their abilities.

In my career, I have been able to move up through the ladder and I’m very proud of that and I model that for my daughters and I like to recommend to all those clever girls out there to enter this amazing field and all the opportunities that are there and know that they can very well do in there if they assert themselves.”

I’m post-menopausal, empty-nester, spent most of my adult life caring and thinking of my children and I’m having a bit of a renaissance of thinking about who I am, who I was and who I will be.

It’s been a lot of fun! I have never done anything like this before and I felt special. - Fiona said about her transformative experience with us.
