Capturing heirlooms in legacy portraits this holiday season
Some portraits are worth digging our archives for! With the festive holiday season coming up, we wanted to share the story behind this portrait with you. Isn’t this a stunning portrait? Oh, yes! But what makes it even more special is the story behind it.
We had a beautiful time photographing Usha for her YouShine shoot. What made it special was her antique heirloom jewelry for this shoot. This necklace, she told us, belonged to her mother-in-law’s grandmother and that makes it a four generation heirloom! The design is a traditional temple jewelry set in antique gold finishing complete with south Indian motifs. The pearls themselves tell the story of time as they have now developed a beautiful matte-ish beige look over the years. “I’ve never polished them” Usha tells us. The beautiful fuchsia saree that Usha is wearing is the one she wore for her Grahpravesham (when her in-laws welcomed her into the family as a new bride), and will always be a special piece. These two beautiful heirloom pieces are now forever engraved in this beautiful legacy portrait. Now this is a heirloom that will live on forever.
Here are a few more portraits from Usha’s YouShine shoot:
